Believe In People and also Levi Brown, “Graffiti” and Photography/Art taken to New Lengths!

There is a mysterious local New Haven artist going only by the moniker: ‘Believe In People,’ often shortened to BIP. Watch out! A giant baby holding a briefcase-wielding businessman! This particular painting ‘sprung’ up “guerrilla style” on the side of a business along State Street. In this instance, the painter had the permission of the owner, a Mr. Lou Cox, but BIP likes to keep his/her/their identity a secret.

A lot of BIP’s work is youthful and sets a playful mood while in contrast to that, seems to poke fun at seemingly mundane life choices. The picture BELOW appeared without permission of the owner, but I don’t think he’s complaining. It showed up in New Haven’s Audobon Art district, a cool place where I’ve had a couple of art shows.

BIP’s work appeared to have started in 2010, when these images cropped up:

BIP is also known for stenciling phrases on the ground like this one found stenciled on Audubon Street:

I love the simple complexity of this one: (Also love oxymorons)

Here’s a photographer/artist I also admire:

Just who IS Levi Brown? When asked about himself, he says this: “Levi Brown lives in the woods with the gnomes. That is all.”

I have nothing to add, because his work speaks for itself. He doesn’t appear to have an official website but I have shared just a few amazing images of his creation here. Enjoy!

Did you guess? Those are crayons.
